This is my collection of IJN and IJA aircraft. As always 1/48 scale

This is Tamiya's A6M2 Zero. This one depicts AI-101 from the IJN carrier Akagi 2nd wave on December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor piloted by PO1c Tadao Kimura

This is a fantastic kit for its age. I like the way it was designed, if you want gear up they give you solid pieces for the gear doors, and also separate doors for gear down, I use the gear up doors to mask off the wheel wells. Also gives you solid canopy and separate canopy pieces, I use the solid one to mask the cockpit for painting. I built this one straight from the box. After doing some research though, the markings were not quite right. AI-101 did not have the yellow command stripes on the tail. So I left them off

This is the Hasegawa D3A1 Val Dive Bomber depicting AI-210 from the IJN carrier Akagi 2nd wave on December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor piloted by Lt. Zenji Abe and gunner PO Chiaki Saito

This kit was built straight from the box. Paint used on all these came from the new Model Master box sets of WWII aircraft colors. This has a darker greenish tone to the sky gray than the earlier paints out on the market.

This is the Hasegawa B5N2 Kate with torpedo. This kit depicts AI-311 from the IJN carrier Akagi 1st wave December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor piloted by Lt. Cmdr Shigeharu Murata. This aircraft attacked the USS West Virginia

This is a great kit. I actually used the Coral Sea issue of this kit and used the number decals from the original release High Leval Bomber issue. Other than that kit was built straight from the box.

This is the older Nichimo offering of the B5N2 Kate. This one is depicting AI-301 from the IJN carrier Akagi 1st wave on December 7, 1941 piloted by Lt. Mitsuo Matsuzaki, Observer Cmdr Mitsuo Fuchida and Radio/Gunner PO1c Tokunobu Mizuki. Cmdr Fuchida was the overall flight leader of the attack.

Comparing this kit with the Hasegawa kit, the Hasegawa kit is much much better. In fact, I am considering doing another Hasegawa Kate in Fuchida's markings, because it looks so much better than this one. This one was built straight from the box except decals are from Aeromaster.
